About Us

The Richardson Historical & Genealogical Society (RHGS) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation that was chartered by the State of Texas on April 13, 1970. It is located in Richardson, Texas, about 12 miles north of Dallas. For more than half a century, it has been an advocate for historical preservation and awareness in the community it serves. Presently, the society is looking forward to having an active role in the observance and celebration of Richardson's 150th anniversary in 2023.

The RHGS meets monthly, from September through May, at the Richland campus of Dallas College, 12800 Abrams Road, Dallas, Texas 75243. Meetings usually consist of society business matters, followed by a historical or genealogical presentation by an amateur or professional expert in his or her field.

The business affairs of the society are handled by a 5-person board of directors that hold the title of President, Vice-President, Executive Secretary, Assistant Secretary, and Treasurer. Ordinarily, officers/directors serve a 3-year term, but the current officers are serving from October 2022, when the society was revived following more than three years of inactivity, and April 2024.
